Can I use my Scentsy burner with your melts?
You can use their burners, however results will not be great as there wax burners are really only geared towards there own wax melts as they use vegetable wax and their melters dont get to a high enough temperature to melt other melts.
What wax do you use for your products?
The wax we use for our wax melts and candles is soy wax. Some of the many benefits:-
- Soy wax is derived from a vegetables, (soy beans), while it's counter partner, paraffin wax is derived from petroleum (a refined a gasoline product).
- Soy wax is a natural, renewable resource.
- Soy wax is biodegradable and cleans up with plain old soap and water.
- Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax and because of this, soy candles will burn slower or longer than paraffin candles.
- Soy wax burns with zero petro soot, creating petro soot free candles. Paraffin candles burn with petro-soot.
Candle Care
It’s important to look after your candle so please follow our candle care tips!
Burn your candle for a good 2 hours on the first burn so that the whole top melts to avoid pooling and to get an excellent scent throw. Do not burn for longer than 3 hours. To prevent fire and serious injury, burn candle within sight. Keep away from draughts and vibrations. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Never burn this candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
How to prevent candle tunnelling
- The first time you light the candle, don’t trim the wick. This is the ONLY time we recommend NOT to trim the wick before you light a candle. If you trim the wick too short, the flame might be too small to melt all the wax.
- Let the candle burn long enough to melt the top level entirely. If it doesn’t melt all the way to the edge don’t panic, but get as close as you can.
- After the first burn, try to let the candle burn for long stretches as often as you can to keep that really wide opening and prevent tunnelling later on.
How to fix candle tunnelling
There isn’t a pretty or easy way to fix candle tunnelling. Prevention is always best! However, here’s how you can try to fix a candle that has tunnelled…
- Put the candle inside a vase (or something similar) and let it burn for a few hours. The hurricane keeps the heat around the candle to help melt the excess wax.
- Let the candle burn until the entire top becomes liquid wax about 1/4″ deep. This resets the wax and decreases your chances of tunnelling in future burn sessions.
- If you simply remove the dry hard wax down to the wick, it will likely tunnel again the next time as the wax around the edge still has never melted. Wax has a memory which is why it’s important to set the stage right on the first burn.
What Is a Wax Melt?
A wax melt is a scented piece of wax, much like what you’d find in a candle but without the wick! To fill your home with fragrance, you simply warm up and melt the wax melt using either an electric burner or a tea light heated burner. Feel free to take a look at our range of wax melters.
Wax melts are becoming more and more popular and many now favour wax melts over candles as the best way to make your home smell lovely.
